Partnership Collections

Marie Curie

In 2013 the club became involved with collecting on behalf of Marie Curie at the Tesco superstore in Winchester. In conjunction with the Meon Valley Lions Club we manned the collection point for over 8 hours and collected in excess of 700.

The club decided to repeat the process in 2014 but on this occasion supplied all the manpower (and womanpower).

The following photos, and an article from the Southern Echo cover the event (3rd May, 2014).

EASTLEIGH Lions Club says 'thank you' following this year's donations to the Great Daffodil Appeal.

Raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, members of the club collected donations at Tesco in Winnall, Winchester, in a bid to raise as much money for terminally ill patients as possible.

The money will be used to fund Marie Curie hospices.

Lions Club president Phil Spearey said: "Thanks to the generosity of local people we collected 695.98. Every penny collected by Lions Clubs goes direct to good causes as our membership fees cover any administration costs.

"This means our daffodil collection will help fund 35 hours of hands-on nursing care within our area.

"We are proud to be at the heart of the community, and our partnership with Marie Curie demonstrates how Lions Clubs offer vital support for local people."
