On October 13th Eastleigh Lions Club spent World Sight Day at ASDA raising funds for a cause close to their hearts. Lions all over the world take part in sight related projects helping people locally and internationally.

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness o focus global attention on blindness and visual impairment. Eastleigh Lions are grateful to the support received from ASDA and, as in previous years, money kindly donated by the public has been kept in the community.

Eastleigh Lions were delighted to present a cheque for 2,000, Lion President Dave's nominated charity for 2012/13.

The following photograph shows members wearing spectacles which demonstrate the various types of visual impairment which people suffer. Only 10% of people registered as blind are, in fact, totally blind.

This money will be directed towards the funding of software developments to assist with the use of 'Smartphones'. An evening is being planned to demonstrate this initiative with the Lions Club attending.
